NM Game and Fish warns of bears in Jemez Mountains

News

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish is warning campers about bears in the Jemez Mountains.

Campers have reported multiple sightings of bear cubs in the area of Forest Road 376.

Officials say due to lack of rain, bears may be in search of other food sources, meaning they are traveling closer to the people.

Because of the recent bear activity, the department is asking people to keep campsites clean and be aware of their surroundings.
