1. The man accused of hiding the three escaped Clovis inmates allegedly knew about the plan before it took place. Detectives say three inmates walked out of the Curry County Detention Center with the alleged help of a detention officer. They were on the run for three days before finally being arrested at the home of Jon Hausmann. According to a criminal complaint filed yesterday, Hausmann was told about the plans during a phone call with one of the inmates before the escape. So far, there’s no word on any possible charges.

2. MDC says they plan to have three iris scanners installed by mid-July. It is part of an effort to make sure no more inmates are mistakenly released. Earlier this month, Duwin Perez-Cordova copied his cellmate’s appearance and used his personal information to get out of jail. His escape prompted re-training of any jail staff that deals with releasing inmates. Jail staff will also have two mobile devices to scan inmates’ eyes. Once they get the technology, jail staff will scan every inmate that is already housed at MDC.

5. An annual tradition that began more than five decades ago is getting ready to say goodbye.The 57th Annual New Mexico Arts and Crafts Fair began in 1962 as a way to support and encourage local art. After all these years, officials with the fair say that this year will be the last. They are citing a lack of funding as the reason why. The event is being held at the State Fairgrounds and runs this weekend, from Friday through Sunday.
