Vehicles will not be allowed in the Valles Caldera for a while.
Officials say with the warmer weather the snow melt is impacting road conditions and there are higher water levels in the East Fork Jemez River, which could soon cover the road.
You can still access the preserve by foot. There is still enough snow out there to cross country ski, snowshoe and hike. You can also mountain bike.
They do warn people that the snowmelt has created hidden ponds underneath the snow.
