The city of Santa Fe is moving forward with the redevelopment of the old Santa Fe University of Art and Design—but first, they want to see people’s visions for it.
The college shut down last spring. It’s been used in a couple of movie and television productions, but has otherwise sat empty.
Now, the city is seeking bids for its redevelopment. They want those bidding to show their own unique vision, but want it to be mixed-use and include residential buildings, a place for higher education, along with open space and arts.
The city says the longer the site sits there unused, the more it costs taxpayers.
