Routine operations resume at WIPP

News Briefs

Routine operations have resumed at WIPP following an evacuation last month.

Work was halted when employees found one drum wasn’t aligned properly with some others.

Officials say no radiation was released and the package was eventually repacked and disposed of underground.

There has been more scrutiny about waste handling at WIPP after a radiation release in 2014 that shutdown the operation for three years.
