New Mexico gets federal grant to boost early childhood education

News Briefs

A new federal grant will help bolster early childhood education in New Mexico.

A $5.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health will help collect data from children ages 0 to 5.

The data will be used as a roadmap to a higher quality learning environment for local kids.

The funding will also create an online tool for parents to self-evaluate their child’s progress and identify when extra help is needed.

The initiative will be led by the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department.
