Jemez Cave to remain closed to the public

A cave in the Santa Fe National Forest will remain closed to the public. 

The Forest Service has reissued a closure order for the Jemez Cave. The cave, which is culturally significant to the Jemez Pueblo, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. 

Archaeologists are examining the cave and developing a long-term plan to protect it. The area has been closed since 2012.
