Fire managers to begin prescribed burns in Jemez Ranger District

Ignitions are expected to begin Thursday, October 25 in an effort to reduce the risk of high severity wildfire.

Fire managers plan to burn the Joaquin piles area in the Jemez Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest that is south of Porter Landing and 6.5  miles north of Gilman.

Communities in Cuba, Jemez Pueblo, Jemez Springs, San Ysidro and those on Highway 4 and US 550 may be able to see smoke.
