DURANGO, CO (KRQE) - The Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is set to start-up service Thursday.
The Durango Herald reports this comes after La Plata County Commissioners voted to downgrade their fire restrictions to Stage 2 because of rain.
That allows the use of coal-fired engines.
The owner says there will be safeguards if conditions are exceptionally dry.
Although the fire is under investigation, witnesses have said a cinder from the train may have sparked it.
