Durango school district receives grant for safety upgrades

News Briefs

Durango schools are getting a big boost in funding to make sure students are safer.

The district landed a $1.1 million grant from the Colorado Division of Homeland Security. The money will help support and build upon existing school safety options, like upgrading the district’s bus radio system and applying ballistic film on all doors with windows.

This comes after the State of Colorado required other changes for its schools.
