Damaged roads in Mt. Taylor Ranger District to remain closed

News Briefs

It could be months before washed out roads on New Mexico National Forest land are back open.

The Forest Service has closed off forest roads in the Mount Taylor District, near the Ojo Redondo Campground west of Grants, because of wash-outs and culvert damage.

It’s all because of the monsoon rains.

The closure is set to be in effect until the end of next year, but could open earlier if repairs are complete.

People who violate the closure order could face thousands of dollars in fines.
