A local charity event is teaching children with special needs the sport of fishing.

C.A.S.T. for Kids is a nonprofit that gives kids with disabilities the chance to fish and boat with their peers. Saturday’s event took place at Navajo Lake in Farmington.

Participants got fishing gear, lunch, and a commemorative plaque. The next event in New Mexico is September 21 at Elephant Butte.

Kids will have the chance to catch catfish, bass, and more.
