Bill would allow voters to register up until Election Day

News Briefs

The state Senate is set to take up a bill letting voters register up until the last second.

Senate Bill passed the House late Tuesday night. Representative Damon Ely says being able to register to vote on election day would be convenient if you didn’t get a chance to earlier.

Some Republicans worry, however, that it would open the door for people to vote more than once.

Under current state law voter registration closes 28 days before election day.
