A bill that would protect health care coverage to those with pre-existing health conditions is now in the hands of the governor.

The Senate gave the final okay to House Bill 436 overnight Thursday. The bill would force insurance companies to keep covering people with pre-existing conditions like cancer and heart disease, even if the pre-existing condition protections are eliminated at the federal level.
