A Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office helicopter has a new engine.
The department’s Vietnam-era Huey recently got the upgrade.
The engine cost $200,000 but was paid for by federal grants.
It means the helicopters will have more power for its missions, which includes law enforcement-related incidents, hoist rescues and wildland firefighting.
BCSO got the helicopter back in 2000 through a military surplus program at the cost of just $1.
