APS extending school year to make up for snow day

News Briefs

APS is reminding parents that the school year has been extended by one day to make up for a snow day.

The last day of school is May 23. High schoolers will be dismissed at 10:30 a.m., and elementary and middle schools between 11 a.m. and noon depending on the school.

KRQE News 13 asked why the make up is just a half day. APS said the last day of school is always a half day.

While snow days used to be built into the APS calendar, they aren’t anymore, so any time a district-wide snow day is called, the day has to be made up.
