APS expecting $3 million budget surplus next year

News Briefs

Albuquerque Public Schools says it’s expecting a surplus next year.

The district received $638 million of state funding this year, but it’s now slated to get $725 million for the next fiscal year.

Most of that funding increase will go towards mandated expenses like pay raises for teachers. That’s expected to leave about $3 million.

The district hasn’t decided where that money will go.
