City councilors in Santa Fe could soon decide on a proposed casita ordinance.

The ordinance would allow property owners to rent out two units on a single-family residential lot like a casita or guest house and not have to live on the property themselves.

According to the Albuquerque Journal, at Wednesday night’s amendments were introduced to extend the amount of time an absent owner could rent the property. Those amendments failed.

However, the final decision on the ordinance is scheduled for May 29th.
