Albuquerque Water Authority expresses concern over jet fuel leak

News Briefs

The Water Authority is questioning the jet fuel leak at Kirtland.

The Water Authority says it’s governing board will present its concerns to a Pentagon representative during a meeting Wednesday night.

The concern stems in part from reports that the Air Force is reducing the yearly clean-up budget for the spill. The leak of millions of gallons of fuel into the soil was first discovered in 1999.

No Water Authority wells have yet been contaminated by the spill.
