For the first time ever, Air Force Research Laboratory New Mexico is hosting a STEM Signing Day. Modeled after signing days for high school seniors committing to play collegiate sports, STEM Signing Day commemorates seniors committing to pursue higher education in science, technology, engineering, and math-related fields.

Wednesday, May 1, seniors from around the Albuquerque metro will sign. The event will be held at Hotel Albuquerque at 4:30 p.m. with Workforce Solutions Secretary Bill McCamley and Public Education Secretary Karen Trujillo set to speak.

Officials say they hope to make it a statewide event by 2020.
