AFR issues reminder regarding calls about the homeless

News Briefs

Albuquerque Fire Rescue is asking residents to ask before you call.

While calling 911 is never discouraged, callers are being asked to have more information, particularly when it comes to calls involving the homeless.

AFR says often times they respond multiple times to someone who is just sleeping or doesn’t want help. They say asking “Are you okay?” can help prevent 911 from becoming overwhelmed with non-emergency calls.
