AFR drops EMT license requirement for new cadets

News Briefs

Albuquerque Fire Rescue hopes to hire more firefighters by dropping a major requirement.

Open enrollment for the 95th cadet class will open June 3. In years past, applicants had to have an EMT license to apply. The department is now dropping that requirement, saying that training will be provided during the academy.

AFR says the change will allow more people to apply.
