A northern New Mexico community is dealing with a water problem after its acequia broke.
According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, a tree service cut a number of trees near the “Acequia De Comunidad” in Nambe on Friday. Some the debris left behind flowed downstream and broke the acequia’s wall, sending water into an arroyo below.
Now, officials say 120 households won’t have access to the irrigation water until it’s fixed. That could take a week.
