New theater establishes a fundraising troupe

News

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It’s combining entertainment and community, and it’s the only one of its kind in the state.

The Cabaret Theater, located at Sidewinders Bar, is a performing arts theater focused on everything from singing and dancing to impersonation and burlesque. The theater is also involved in fundraising for the community.

It’s goal is to raise funds for community projects and need-based grants, but it’s primary fundraising activity is for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and master classes in the performing arts.

The Southwest Arts Group (SWAG) is the resident performing arts troupe of  the new established theater. SWAG is  an educational, performing and fine arts group.

Artistic Director and Music Commissioner, Renato Estacio, and General Director, Allie Joseph, joined KRQE’s This Morning team to discuss their first major event on Saturday, August 20. Watch above.

The event will be dedicated to the Golden Age of Hollywood and Big Band. Tickets for the event are $10.
