Researchers at Sandia Laboratory say they’re hoping to treat breast cancer with their latest finding.
Chemist Dale Huber has been working with Imagion Biosystems to product nanoparticles that stick to breast cancer cells, allowing the detection and removal of masses.
Without them, patients often have to have lymph nodes removed that later prove to be cancer free.
The team will conduct clinical trials later this year.
Doctors will inject nanoparticles into the areas of known tumors, then researchers will study the results.
The participants will be chosen based on doctor’s recommendations.
