The district court in Albuquerque unveiled a new program to tackle substance abuse.
The “Healing to Wellness Court” specifically helps Native Americans facing felony charges.
Treatment will be provided through “First Nations,” allowing for traditional healing and culturally relevant methods to help people turn their lives around.
The program lasts 48 weeks and encompasses traditional practices like sweat lodge and talking circles, along with western treatment.
Those with capital or sexual offenses cannot apply.
