New Mexico’s biggest coffee roaster announces new facility

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The state’s biggest coffee roaster is getting bigger to meet the demand.

New Mexico Pinon Coffee is expanding to a new warehouse near I-25 and Comanche.

The company’s not sure how many new employees it will hire, but the president says this is a move in the right direction.

The president says the coffee is getting a lot of recognition outside New Mexico.

“We got a tremendous amount of great people who work here and work hard, day in and day out, to produce the best coffee ever,” said Allen Bassett, President of New Mexico Pinon Coffee.

Bassett says there were only seven employees when his family bought the company. Now there are 27 workers.

The expansion will allow the company to speed up production and reach markets outside the state.

The the company served as the official coffee of the 2015 Balloon Fiesta, which draws people from all over the world.
