This November, voters will once again weigh in on a tax meant to fund an expansion at a Rio Rancho hospital.
The Albuquerque Journal reports that the Sandoval County Commission approved UNM’s request to put the issue before voters.
For about eight years, Sandoval County residents were paying taxes on the UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center, as well as Presbyterian Rust Medical Center.
Now, two years later, the hospital wants residents to pay up again, this time for an expansion to the UNM facility.
This includes increased behavioral health services and creating a Level Three Trauma Center.
People in Rio Rancho are reportedly in support of the additions.
