A California-based tech company plans to bring nearly 700 new jobs to downtown Albuquerque.

TaskUs picked Albuquerque for its new technical operations and customer experience center beating out Utah, Nevada and Texas.

TaskUs which works with other companies like Event Brite and Tinder already has offices in Texas and says expanding to New Mexico comes with certain advantages.

“New Mexico was just a common sense next location. It’s closer to the west coast where our customers are, you’ve got direct flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco and both the state of New Mexico and the city of Albuquerque have worked really hard to get our business,” said Bryce Maddock CEO of TaskUs.

The company is leasing office space in the first plaza building at Third Street and Tijeras and expects to open early next year.
