A southern New Mexico elementary school is telling students to leave their hoodies at home.
Parents received a letter from Sunrise Elementary in Chaparral, saying students can no longer wear hoodies or other non-weather appropriate weather. If a student is caught wearing one, the letter says it will be taken away.
Parents were confused by the order and wondered what was behind it. The district says it all has to do with the hot temperatures.
They say they are afraid kids will get heat exhaustion since some are wearing them in the 90-degree heat. The Gadsden School District does say students will be able them in chilly weather.
