A wandering sheep is getting a lot of attention in Tucumcari.
According to the Quay County Sun, locals have been catching sight of the animal for weeks wandering fields near Tucumcari Elementary School.
Game and Fish identified it as a Barbary sheep, a breed that doesn’t typically live in the region but occasionally wanders down the Canadian River Valley.
The police chief says since the sheep is not causing a danger or a nuisance, there are no plans to relocate it.
