Senators Udall, Heinrich introduce bill to improve tribal broadband access

New Mexico

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Two New Mexico senators want to overcome the digital divide on tribal land.

Democrats Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich are co-sponsoring a bill that would give Native American communities better access to federal broadband programs, along with technical assistance.

The Federal Communications Commission says less than half of households on tribal land have access to high-speed internet.
