New Mexico

CHAVES COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – A dangerous crash is sending an important message in southeast New Mexico.

The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office posted a photo of a semi that was traveling on Highway 82 toward Mayhill when it rolled when the driver tried to avoid hitting a deer on the road.

The sheriff’s office reports the driver was okay and reminds the public to be cautious of deer and antelope that cross the highways. Drivers are also reminded that jerking a vehicle’s steering wheel is dangerous when traveling at a fast speed.
