The Santa Fe school district will not be adding new security after school board members rejected the board president’s proposal to hire armed school guards.

The proposal suggested adding the armed officers to the district’s two high schools starting this year.

The proposal was voted down in a special session.

However, several board members have expressed interest in counselors for students.
