A fleet of never before used Santa Fe Police cars are collecting dust instead of criminals.
According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, it was revealed recently at a city council meeting.
They said 14 vehicles are going unused because they don’t have the right radios installed.
The vehicles have been sitting in the department parking lot for nearly a year because a city employee in charge of installing the radios retired.
Monday night, Chief Andrew Padilla asked the city finance committee to approve a $70,000 contract with MHQ of New Mexico to install the radios.
KRQE reached out to the finance committee to discuss their decision on the contract, but have not heard back.
