Santa Fe elementary student challenges police chief to footrace

New Mexico

A Santa Fe elementary school student had a challenge for the police chief, and there was a lot on the line.

Eric from Salazar Elementary challenged Chief Andrew Padilla to a footrace during the department’s recent visit to his school. The bet: If Eric beat the chief, he would receive a brand new police car.

“He came out strong, slowed down when he realized he couldn’t maintain the pace. I kicked it into third gear, left him in the dust,” Chief Padilla said jokingly.

Luckily for the department, the chief won out.
