A Santa Fe County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested over the holiday weekend for allegedly getting aggressive at a bar.

According to a criminal complaint, officers responded to a fight at the Boxcar sports bar early Tuesday morning.

Police say Jose Lujan was drunk and started getting in their faces, even “sizing up” an officer and making him feel uncomfortable, so he put Lujan in handcuffs.

That’s when Lujan got even more angry and aggressive, police say.

He was arrested and booked into the Santa Fe County Detention Center.

Lujan has been with Santa Fe County since 2012 in the criminal investigation division.

He is now on paid leave during the investigation.
