A Santa Fe County deputy is receiving high praise for his life-saving efforts.

Deputy Joe Vigil, a five year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, was bestowed the Medal of Valor from the Santa Fe Crime Stoppers.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, Vigil has been in law enforcement for a total of 16 years.

Over the last three years, he has administrated Narcan, a drug overdose reversal, in more than a dozen cases.

Vigil was also chosen by a panel of Santa Fe residents for his leadership and willingness to assist with any investigation.

Vigil had 71 arrests in 2017, seven of which were for DWI.
