Roswell zoo welcomes pair of elk

New Mexico News

Two unique residents have joined the Spring River Park and Zoo family in Roswell.

The zoo is welcoming two elks, a bull and cow, were rescued from a local game ranch.

The zoo says New Mexico Game and Fish approached them about bringing them there.

They say the elk are humanized so if they didn’t find them a new home, they would have to euthanize them.

They’re currently in quarantine right now, but the zoo is working on creating a much bigger exhibit for the elk.

Those at the zoo were happy to take them in. They also hope to have them on display in a year.
