Roswell welcomes stranded travelers after plane makes emergency landing

New Mexico

Passengers headed from Dallas to San Diego got a big Roswell welcome on Wednesday when their plane made an emergency landing.

Wednesday morning, American Airlines flight landed at the Roswell Air Center because of an engine problem.

Firefighters helped disabled passengers off the plane while Parks and Rec supplied tables and chairs to accommodate the large crowd inside the small airport.

City workers brought in bottles of water, and a local company called AV Flight even provided pizza.

Mayor Dennis Kintigh, his wife Carol, and City Councilor Angela Moore showed up to serve as hospitality ambassadors, and Visitor Center staff handed out alien-themed stress balls.

After about a six-hour delay, another plane arrived to take the passengers on their way.
