ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – Prosecutors say it does not appear that a man suspected of shooting a woman knew her beforehand.

Roswell investigators linked 20-year-old Alessandro Alva to the case through witnesses and video surveillance at the scene of the shooting Friday night.

Police say Alva denied shooting 40-year-old Jennifer Morro, but admitted to giving her a ride. Witnesses told police Morro was dropped off, then minutes later the truck returned and a gunshot was fired.

Morro was pronounced dead at the hospital.
