Roswell nonprofit asks for help identifying burglar

New Mexico

A Roswell nonprofit is asking for the public’s help in finding the person who broke into their building.

Those at the Unity Center says around 3:30 a.m. Monday, a man smashed through the front doors.

He stole $6 from the donation jar, but the cost in damages was nearly $200.

People who work at the organization believe the man had been inside before, because he knew where the money was kept.

The center, which provides resources for youth, runs off donations after the city stopped funding it in 2010.

“I’m just really disappointed, like if someone really needs money that bad, I’d sooner help them out then them steal from us, especially a place like this,” said Bobby Garcia, Unity Center event coordinator.

If you recognize the man, call Roswell Police.
