Prescribed burns planned in Santa Fe watershed

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – Santa Fe National Forest officials are preparing to present Environmental Protection Plans to the city council Tuesday.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexcian, officials are pursuing plans for tree thinning, controlled burns and other actions hoping to prevent damaging wildfires while improving the ecology around the Santa Fe Municipal Watershed. The plan also calls for allowing lightning-caused fires to burn under controlled conditions.
