A beloved playwright and New Mexico State University professor has died.
Mark Medoff died Wednesday after a long battle with cancer. Medoff won a Tony Award for his play, “Children of a Lesser God” and was nominated for an Academy Award for the film version of the script.
He began teaching at NMSU in 1966 and served as the head of the Department of Theatre Arts for nine years. Medoff was 79-years-old.
Actor Neil Patrick Harris posted a tribute to the playwright on Twitter saying he credits Medoff with his discovery.
