Budget boosts are coming to New Mexico law enforcement as Santa Fe the City of Santa Fe’s 2020 budget includes a 10.5% pay raise for police officers.
According to the Albuquerque Journal, the pay increases are “front-loaded” toward an officer’s first seven years of work. The boost comes after officials say they needed to increase pay to keep officers from leaving to departments with higher salaries.
The Santa Fe City Council approved the $102 million general fund budget on Wednesday night. The budget is an increase of around $6 million compared to the current year and also includes a 2% pay increase for other city workers.
