A multi-agency task force is now investigating a shooting involving a Las Cruces police officer.

Police say around 7:30 Thursday night, officers were called to a domestic disturbance in the 2400 block of Tiffany Drive.

Police say an officer fired his weapon and one person was taken to a local hospital.

Investigators say the officer who fired his weapon will be placed on administrative leave.

They say it is standard Las Cruces Police procedure.

The task force will be made up of State Police, Las Cruces Police, the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State University Police.
