NNSA proposes to build nuclear weapons components in Los Alamos, Savannah River

Los Alamos National Lab could soon be the home to new nuclear weapons components.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, a newly released federal report details plans to build nuclear weapons components at the Los Alamos National Laboratories, as well as at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina.

The report on the National Nuclear Security Administration’s plan says the government could produce at least 80 plutonium pits per year by 2030.

The report was sent to Congress on Tuesday.
