NMSU researchers working to protect computers from hackers

New Mexico

New Mexico State University researchers are working on a way to make computers safer from hackers.

The College of Engineering is partnering with Sandia National Labs to improve security for government computers.

They’re working on a device that uses inexpensive Bluetooth technology to monitor a computer chip’s energy usage, then automatically shuts the computer down if it detects unusual activity.

The team has been working on the device for several months. It’s heading into the testing phase.
