NMSU experts: No murder hornets in New Mexico

New Mexico News

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KRQE) – Experts at New Mexico State University say there’s no reason to worry about murder hornets in New Mexico.

The Department of Agriculture has received hundreds of calls and pictures from people claiming they’ve seen murder hornets in the state but an agriculture agent with NMSU says they were all cicada killer wasps or the tarantula hawk wasps. Experts say murder hornets shouldn’t pose a threat to New Mexico since they prefer rainforests and not high desert climates.
