New Mexico State Police have released updates on a police shooting that took place last month.

On Dec. 6, 2018, around 11:30 a.m, Cibola County Sheriff’s deputies were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on 76-year-old John Guerin in Blue Water Village.

Upon reaching the front door of a trailer, one gunshot was fired from inside the residence according to authorities.

Deputies Kimery Ward, Anthony Kemp and Alan Roane then discharged their weapons towards the window of the trailer.

After setting up a perimeter and requesting the NMSP Tactical Team, another gunshot was heard from inside the trailer.

Upon investigation, Guerin was found inside the trailer with a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head with a .22 caliber handgun next to him.

Deputies Ward and Kemp have been with CCSO for around five years, while Deputy Roane has been with the department for three.
